Handled the branding for TOTTEI, a new waterfront complex centered around GLION ARENA KOBE in Kobe’s Shinko district.

The project included naming, logo and visual identity design, graphic applications, the website, and environmental signage.

The complex is located on a pier approximately 400 meters long, historically known as the “Second Pier” (Tottei). The name TOTTEI was adopted from this familiar local nickname, preserving its connection to the area’s history while giving it a distinctive identity. Centered around the arena, the name was intended to represent the wider waterfront district in a way that feels both natural and approachable.

The logo abstracts the form of the pier into the letter “T”, creating a simple and iconic symbol. Its flexible structure allows it to adapt across different applications, reflecting the openness of the place and its capacity to welcome a wide range of people, activities, and culture.

It is hoped that TOTTEI will become a starting point for the continued growth of Kobe’s waterfront as a destination for culture and community.
